Zimbabwean designers showcasing at the Durban Fashion Fair 2015

Three Zimbabwean designers will be going to showcase at this year’s Durban Fashion Fair. The designers are namely, Zanele Dube, the founder of ZAH Designs, Sidumiso Tshuma, who established Shadow by Sidumiso and Saneliso Mpofu, who founded Sanah Designs. They will be representing the City of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe at the prestigious fashion event which will be held from the 26^th to the 29^th of August 2015. 

 The 3 who passed through the Edgars Young Designer Development Programme, an initiative by Hunnar Management Agency and Edgars Stores Ltd, are expected to showcase their professionalism and quality collection during their shows. The 3 designers will be showcasing their 16 looks collections from the 27^th   to the 29^th of August.

Shadow by Sidumiso, who showcased last year at the same event, will once again get an opportunity to outdo his collection from last year which was described as, ‘a high quality ready to wear collection.’

Zah Designs is a clothing label by Zanele Dube, a 25 year old designer from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Zanele is a product of the Bulawayo Polytechnic where she is majoring in Fashion Designing and Illustrations. Besides fashion, she is a fashion columnist for various publications in Zimbabwe. The label is inspired by music, architectural designs and human nature. The designs are sophisticated and express inner thoughts and diversity in culture through fashion. Zah Designs has showcased at Clothing Indaba Bulawayo 2014, Intwasa Fashion Show 2014 and exhibited at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2015.

Shadow by Sidumiso is an urban culture label by Sidumiso Tshuma, a self-taught Zimbabwean designer. He was born in March 1985, and is based in the City of Kings, KoBulawayo. The label embraces individuals of different backgrounds and the collections are always a fashion journey which highlights different inspirations that have contributed to the moulding of the brand.  Shadow by Sidumiso has showcased on various platforms such as, The CoFFashion Event in 2012, HIFA 2013 – Styled by Africa, Matabeleland Fashion Week 2014, and Intwasa Fashion Show 2014. He is a returning designer from Durban Fashion Fair 2014.

Sanah Designs is inspired by the aspect of one having breath to live and nature as a whole. The label is founded by Saneliso Mpofu an award winning Zimbabwean designer, with the label having been exhibited at different platforms such as Indaba Fashion, Matabeleland Fashion Week, Intwasa Fashion Show and Research and International Expo. Saneliso Mpofu is a graduate in Applied Art and Design, from the Bulawayo Polytechnic in Zimbabwe. She is also in the designing team of Escapades, a supplier of Edgars Stores, Truworths, Topics and Meikles, amongst many outstanding retail stores.

Every year 10 young designers from Durban Fashion Fair are selected to attend the Milan Internship Programme and other designers are invited to participate in the South African Fashion and Culture Show in London. The Event is LIVE streamed online on SDR LIVE.
