Meet the 2015 Intwasa Fashion Show Designers

The much talked about Intwasa Arts Festival has resumed in Bulawayo. It is a fun-filled festival full of activities ranging from music,dance,film,theatre,poetry,and fashion. With the 2nd edition of the Intwasa Fashion Show being the last show of the top notch festival, the prestigious event is expected to close this years' festival in style.

The fashion show will be held this Saturday the 26th of September 2015 at the AMTEC Garage,along Robert Mugabe Way/12th Avenue at 6:30pm. 10 Top Fashion Designers will be showcasing at the show, with Edgars Stores selecting 3 for the Edgars Young Designers Development Programme.

The Designers that will showcase in this years’ prestigious event  are, Thembani Mubochwa, Melusi Nhengu, Andre Chadyiwa, Louisa Conrad, Kuda Matiza, Nompumelelo Samabgwa, Rutendo Maguze, Leandri Willemse, Brenda Vongai, and Mma Hogany Clothing.



Thembani Mubochwa is a Zimbabwean fashion brand that offers classic, unique and trend clothing with a refinement in the cut and outstanding workmanship He has showcased at previous Zimbabwe Fashion Week and he won an award at Vodacom Durban July 2015.

Melusi Nhengu debuted his label at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2012. He has dressed former Big Brother Africa contestant, Pokello Nare, Bulawayo’s entertainment sweetheart, Mbo Mahocs, contestants at Miss Zimbabwe and other national pageants.

Andre is a fashion label by Bulawayo based, Andre Chadyiwa.  It caters for both local and international fashion lovers. The label aims to give its clients real love through fashion. Von Designs, a label by Brenda Vongai who has displayed her works at public platforms such as the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, will be showcasing an Avant Garde collection.

Mosi Designs is a fashion label by Louisa Conrad, who is from the Victoria Falls. The label is inspired by the Chitenge Material and was established in 2010. Mosi will be showcasing a contemporary collection with Chitenge highlights.

Johannesburg Based, House of Hohwa by Kuda Matiza has showcased at major fashion events in Johannesburg and Cape Town under the Azzura Collective. The label speaks volumes of Culture in the Modern today.  

Chinhoyi University Graduate, Nompumelelo Samabgwa will be showcasing her Dark and Bold collection under her label Noe Es. The Award Winning label has showcased at Clothing Indaba, Harare International Festival of the Arts and Zimbabwe Fashion Week, amongst many fashion platforms.
 
South Africa Based, Mma Hogany Clothing, is a South Africa based label under the Azzura Collective. It will be showcasing an Afro-Chic female collection. Mma Hogany has managed to display their works at platforms such as Mercedes Benz Africa Fashion International. 

Leandri Willemse, a South African based label will also be showcasing their feminine collection under Azzura Collective.

Rutendo Maguze is a Pharmacy Student at the University of Zimbabwe who has a strong passion for fashion.  She has showcased at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week under their Young Designers Programme and Competition in 2014. Rutendo will be showcasing an all-female range at the Intwasa Fashion Show 2015.

This year, the organizers are set to produce an exclusive show that will have a variety of styles being showcased by the 10 designers in one event.


“We had to deliberate on the different styles of the designers and also their preparedness to enter the real commercial industry. Edgars Stores, one of our partners would be looking at getting some of the designers on attachment with them and further equip them for the real world, hence the need for them to produce outstanding collections that are well illustrated”, said the organizers, Hunnar Management.
