VAULT Cosmetics is a make-up range by US based-Zimbabwean Jackie Mgido.The growth of the range has seen Jackie closely working with former Big Brother Africa winner Dillish Matthews. She is the inspiration behind ‘’Delicious’’ lip glow, and is currently the only African public figure signed to VAULT Cosmetics.The make-up range was launched in Harare a few years back.
Having Bulawayo close to her heart due to her early teenage years at Eveline High school she decided to launch her make-up brand in the City of Kings and Queens. Jackie indicated her sceptical move, as she was not sure on how Bulawayo would respond to her brand. But, Bulawayo responded positively by attending in their numerous numbers, as they were involved in the grassroot planning of the event. 3D Events Management and House of Rocc, were involved in the putting together of the event.
The launch mostly consisted of women of all ages from all walks of life. A few gentlemen attended,which was not surprising.For those who attended it could have been because they wanted to give moral support,educate themselves,or to a certain extent rub shoulders with the prominent individuals. People who were present include Former Ms Zimbabwe, Lorraine Maphala, designer, Shadow By Sdue, Television personnel, Nyasha Mtamangira, Radio personality, NapStar, Rapper,Calvin ,and Producer, Nico Abote ,amongst other familiar faces in the Arts Industry. The guests list included Multiaward winning rapper Tehn Diamond who came along with his producer TAKE 5, and former Big Brother Africa winner Dillish Matthews who flew in the country from Namibia on Saturday noon.The Red carpet reception for the guests was characterised with Camera flashes and jeers from the crowd, Hollywood style!
The days’ program included people buying VAULT products that included make-up kits and ”Delicious” lip gloss inspired by Dillish Matthews.The VAULT team of make-up artists were put on spotlight the whole afternoon as they demonstrated on how their products are applied on the face evenly proportioned without spoiling a woman’s facial features. As the lady behind the cosmetic products,Jackie put herself in the spotlight when she showed the audience what makes her a wellrecognised International make-up artist. She demonstrated on some audience members and also on Dillish. The city’s’ inseparable duo Mbo Mahocs and Gilmore Tee kept the audience entertained with their elegant hosting that highlighted their previous immaculate guest presenting at the Zimbabwe Music Awards last year.
The launch which started at 12noon was meant to end at 4pm ahead of the VAULT Bling All Black party which was set for Horizon. But, it ended an hour later with VAULT cosmetics founder giving her emotional vote of thanks that saw her shed into tears as she expressed her gratitude towards the great reception from the public. Making it known that it was not going to be a success without the attendants, Jackie thanked every partner who had come on board for the launch.
The phenomenal launch concluded with great celebrations which included the cutting of the VAULT cake, performances by Bulawayo’s finest rapper Calvin, Tribal group Djembe Monks and Harare’s finest rapper Tehn Diamond alongside producer, TAKE 5. The event was successfully launched in the City of Kings and Queens, and hopefully it will break through in other places across the globe.
